Ive started a metal project this week called ‘Objects of desire’ I’m trying to get away from the cute crafty style of working so for this project I’ve chosen to look at Gothic architecture and subcultures. Taken so many books from the library, Australia’s Iron Lace By Brian Turner, Gothic sculpture in France by Max Hirmer, The Perpendicular Style by John Harvey, English Church Architecture Through the Ages by Leonora and Walter Ison, English Decorative Metalwork by John Harris and Modern Jewelry Design and Techniques by Irena Brynner. So far Ive done a few initial drawings and looked into a few artists and designers, Ive been in the workshop for the past two days creating very rough sample pieces of jewelry as I hope to make a small collection of pieces over the next three weeks, I’ll try and post some pictures tonight once I’ve got some more done.
